Description: If you are a MWCR website groupie, you probably remember seeing an adorable little tri-color puppy named Zorro, who made a brief appearance here about two years ago. Zorro was adopted in the blink of an eye by someone who loved him very much and has helped him to mature into a happy, healthy, well mannered, collie boy. Sadly, his adopter has experienced some life changes that have forced her to find a new home for Zorro.

Zorro is now two years old and has become the perfect dog. He is flawlessly housetrained and can be left alone throughout the work day without any problems or destructive behavior. He spends his day sleeping or looking out the window, watching the birds and patiently waiting for his mom to come home. He is also crate trained and when he sees that you have a treat in your hand, he will run into his crate and lie down. He is invisible fence trained, but even when he isn’t wearing his special collar, he never goes past his boundaries. If he sees children who want to play with him, he won’t go outside his yard but will cry until the children come to him. He is an extremely smart, eager-to-please boy who learns quickly and cheerfully.

It is obvious that Zorro has been lovingly trained and cared for. He is taken to the groomers every six weeks or so, but between trips to the professional, he loves to have both his teeth and his fur brushed. He knows his name and has excellent recall; he also knows “sit,” “stay,” “down,” and “no.” He rides well in the car and will hop right in and wear his seat belt. Zorro walks beautifully on his leash with no tugging or pulling. He has been taught to stop and sit at street corners and he will not walk until his mom says “okay.” Occasionally, when he sees another dog or a person he wants to greet, he will get distracted, but a simple “no” brings him back to his mom’s side.

Zorro is quiet in the house, though he will bark if he is alone and someone comes to the door. If his mom is with him when a stranger comes, she will tell him to “Say hi nice” and he will lift his paw to say hello. He will bark if left alone outside or during play. He has shown some herding behavior, barking at motorcycles or other loud vehicles and nibbling/tugging at clothing to get someone to play with him.

Zorro is an extremely affectionate boy, who loves everyone he meets. He is great with other animals, offering them his toys to encourage them to play with him. He considers himself a lap dog and tries to sit on his people and cuddle. He especially loves children and is playful and gentle with them.

Zorro is a young dog with lots of energy, so he will need plenty of play time and regular exercise. His mom is a runner and he can easily handle a 5 mile run with her. Once he is taught the boundaries of his yard, he will stay within them and will happily play there, so he probably does not need a fence.

Zorro has grown from an adorable puppy into a handsome, loving dog who is looking for a forever home that includes children for him to play with. He is great with kids and with other dogs, and he will make a wonderful companion and playmate for both. It would be ideal if his new home included someone who stayed at home during the day, but this is not a requirement, since he is used to being alone when his current owner is at work. If you missed out on Zorro the first time, don’t let him get away again!
