Description: What do Audrey Hepburn and Lady have in common? Both underwent amazing transformations: Audrey in the classic film My Fair Lady and Lady in her transition from lonely, outdoor, puppy producer to loving, indoor, family member. Lady came to MWCR from a farm where she had lived her entire life as a outdoor dog, producing litters of puppies for her family to sell. When her owner's health began to fail, Lady was surrendered to MWCR and a whole new life began.

When Lady arrived at her foster home, she was amazed and a little bit wary of her new, indoor environment. It included strange things that she had never seen before like television sets, hair dryers and ceiling fans. All of these things and more made her somewhat timid and nervous, but she soon began to realize that indoors was a pretty great place to be. She loves being with people and with her canine companion and is quickly learning the ropes. She understands that when the other dog goes outside to potty, she should go along and do the same. She hasn't yet learned how to “ask” to go out or signal her request, but with time and a regular schedule, she is mastering the whole “house-training” thing.

Lady is a sweet girl who is quickly learning all that her new life has to teach her. She rides well in the car, accepts grooming willingly and enjoys walking on her leash. She will go into her crate, though she does whine a bit at first. At night she loves sleeping on the floor beside her foster mom's bed. Lady was never taught any commands, but she has good recall and comes when you whistle for her.

Lady is loving and accepting of everyone and everything. She is initially a bit shy with strangers but warms up quickly. She loves playing with her canine foster brother and will stand patiently in front of him with a toy in her mouth until he finally gives in and plays with her. She seems to find cats BORING and also ignores the pet guinea pig unless it squeals (which she finds puzzling). Her foster home does not include children, but she is a gentle, playful girl who would almost certainly be fine with kids.

Lady will fit beautifully into almost any family if given a little time to adjust. A fenced yard would be ideal, though it might not be mandatory in the right situation. Since she is still learning the fine points of being an indoor dog, she would really love to have a canine buddy to play with and to help her learn the ropes. Our fair Lady is already well on her way to a complete transformation and only needs the perfect forever family to complete her Hollywood happy ending.
