Update: June 13, 2009 Woods is really settling into his foster home and his foster family is learning about what a sweet, loving boy he is. He just adores having his lush, reddish gold fur brushed and his foster mom is developing quite a set of biceps because when she tries to stop, Woodsy nudges her hand and pleads for more. Keeping his coat soft and shiny will be no problem with a guy who loves brushing the way he does.
One of Woods’ other favorite things is children. Whenever he hears a child’s voice his ears prick up and he begins looking for the source of the sound. He would love to find a forever home that either included children or one where children visited. Of course he also loves adults, particularly men, and when he greets a new guy, he likes to put his paws on their chest and gaze into their eyes. He is very gentle about it, however, and isn’t one of those dogs that knocks you over with their greeting.
Woods recently got to visit his foster family’s lake home and was thoroughly puzzled about the enthusiasm that his canine foster sisters showed for the water. He refused to even put his toes in the water and when he went for walks he would go over or around puddles, but never through them. I guess we can rule out a future career in duck hunting.
Woods is a loving, happy, easy going boy who is just a joy to be around. Everyone he encounters is charmed by his manner and his beauty, so his foster dad refers to him as a “matinee idol.” His only quirk is his obsession with chasing, herding and generally harassing bicycles. So if you can provide him with a relatively bicycle free environment, Woods will provide you with a handsome, loving, well mannered, friend for life. What a deal!
Description:
Woods is looking for a few good men. Actually, just one would be sufficient. This handsome boy loves everyone he meets, but he is particularly fond of guys, so if the man of the house is looking for a special buddy, Woods would be the perfect collie.
In addition to his fondness for humans of all ages, Woods is also great with other dogs - large or small. Cats, unfortunately, are a whole other thing. He does not like cats and should not go to a family that has any.
Woods loves children and is eager to lick the faces of any little kids that he encounters. He is a big boy, however, and really young kids might be frightened by his enthusiasm and his energetic style of play. Older kids would love him and he would love them right back.
Woods has only one quirk. This sweet, calm, gentle collie has an absolute phobia about bicycles! If he sees a bike anywhere on the horizon, he reacts instantly, barking and chasing after it. Then, if the cyclist stops, Woods reverts back to his usual calm, gentle self and greets the cyclist with an easy going grace and a wagging tail.
If you can provide Woods with a relatively bicycle free environment, this wonderful boy will make the perfect family member. He is handsome, easy going, gentle and a real love bug (so long as you aren’t moving on two wheels)!
