Description:
If you enjoyed “Finding Nemo,” just imagine how much fun you will have living with him! This sweet, collie boy is a cheerful, playful guy who loves everyone he meets. He thrives on attention and is happy to sit quietly beside you for limitless petting sessions. He is friendly with strangers and absolutely loves kids. His foster mom believes he would be very gentle, even with extremely young children.
Nemo came to MWCR from a family who loved him, but couldn’t afford to treat him for a condition that caused painful “hot spots.” The spots had become infected and since coming to his foster home, Nemo has been on antibiotics. The combination of medication and a special food has resulted in substantial improvement and his spots are healing nicely. He has about two weeks remaining in his course of antibiotics and then should be fine. The fur is even beginning to grow back in the affected area.
Nemo’s previous home included another dog, cats, rabbits and children. He was apparently fine with all of his housemates, but his foster mom reports that he does not get along with the resident male dog at his foster home. He has only recently been neutered and his dominance may lessen because of that, but he should probably go to a forever home that only includes a submissive male or female dog. Ideally, he would enjoy being the only dog and thus would be able to enjoy all of his family’s attention.
Nemo is well behaved, fully housetrained and can be trusted when left alone in the house. He is crate trained, and though he will whine a bit when put in his crate, he settles down quickly and is very quiet. He is generally not a big barker, but will chime in if other dogs are barking or if he is trying to initiate play. He walks quite well on his leash without any pulling and likes to go for rides in the car. He has good recall and will come and sit on command. He generally stays close to his people when outdoors, but is very interested in chasing bicycles, so he should probably have a fenced yard. Nemo tolerates grooming well and it appears that he has previously been shaved and is growing out of a buzz cut.
Nemo is a sweet, good natured collie who would be a joyful addition to most households. He would love to have children to play with and would probably prefer to be the only dog, unless he could find another canine who would recognize that Nemo is the boss. This guy endured some serious pain from his hot spots but throughout he remained a happy, loving boy in spite of his suffering. If you are looking for a cuddly, well behaved, playful collie you will love “finding Nemo.”
