Description: One look and foster mom was hooked! Blue is such a lovely collie that when her foster mom first saw her photo, she knew she wanted to foster this sweet, pretty girl. And Blue turned out to be just as lovely on the inside as she is on the outside. She is mellow, well mannered and quiet, and her foster mom has given her the run of the house from the moment she arrived.

Blue loves to go for walks and just the mention of the word will bring her running. She is very good on her leash and prances along with her head and tail held high. She knows how to shake hands and will sit and stay before eating until she is released. She loves being outdoors and has been trained to ring a bell when she wants to be let out. That bell gets plenty of action because Blue enjoys a romp with the resident collie as much as she likes to lounge on the deck and survey her yard. Her foster mom puts her on a run line, but she stays close to her people and has shown no signs of wandering.

Blue gets along beautifully with everyone. It is probable that she didn’t have any canine friends at her previous home, because she is just learning how to play with other dogs. One of the resident collies is an exuberant 2 year old, and Blue is sometimes a bit intimidated by her boisterous attempts at play, but she is making progress. She would probably prefer to live with a gentler, more laid back dog like herself. Blue loves her human family and has a great time running and chasing with the active 12 year old at her foster home. At her previous home she was exposed to children as young as 2 and was always very loving and gentle. The resident cat has had no issues with Blue who simply gives it the occasional sniff and tail wag.

Blue was surrendered to the humane society because she was allegedly having incontinence issues. However, since coming to her foster home, she has shown no signs of bladder incontinence and since being converted to a special, limited ingredient, dog food, she has had no bowel problems either. Collies have very sensitive tummies and her vet feels that she may have had some food allergies that were causing her problems. Blue loves her special food and she particularly loves the baby carrots that she receives as treats for being a good girl (needless to say that happens a lot!).

Blue’s ideal forever home would include another mild mannered dog and loving humans of any age. She probably doesn’t need a fenced yard as long as she is properly supervised outdoors and given lots of walks. She is such a sweet and gentle girl that she would fit seamlessly into almost any environment. As in the case of her foster mom, one look at this beautiful girl will “hook” you, and once you get to know her, prepare to be reeled in!
