Description:
When you look into Santos’ soft brown eyes, you can’t help but wonder what his past has been like. He came to MWCR from an Iowa animal rescue group, and though it is clear that he was once someone’s beloved pet, no one came forward to claim him. He knows a variety of commands (sit, stay, shake, in, out, etc.) and is fully housetrained. He is comfortable with a crate, and though there is no need to crate him, he goes in and out of one willingly.
At some time in Santos’ unknown past, we believe that he sustained an injury/trauma to his left side. He is at least partially blind in that eye and sometimes limps on that side. He has trouble with long flights of stairs and would do best in a single or split level home. In spite of this, Santos is a happy, sweet natured boy who takes life at his own pace and likes to go for walks with his foster family. He has no trouble walking for more than a mile.
Santos enjoys being outside in his foster family’s fenced yard and does well off leash with direct supervision. He rarely barks and has a quiet, easy going nature. Unlike many dogs who react with fear or anxiety to such noisy household items as vacuum cleaners, garage doors, hair dryers, etc., Santos takes these things in stride. He likes baths and even enjoys being brushed and blown dry. He loves children and gets along beautifully with other dogs.
Santos is a sweet, gentle boy who has developed the wisdom to roll with the punches and to enjoy whatever life brings. For a loving boy like Santos, life should bring only joy, kindness and affection from a forever family that will treasure this sweet Collie.
