Description:
Polly is a lovely, sable and white girl who weighs a dainty 43 pounds. She came to MWCR from a shelter in Missouri where she was turned in as a stray. Although Polly is a gentle, affectionate girl, all the recent upset in her life has left her a little shy and timid. She loves being indoors with her family and will sit calmly at her foster mom’s feet while she is on the computer, but sudden movements tend to frighten her and make her back away. She yearns to give and receive love, but she needs time to feel secure.
Polly is fully housetrained once she has had a day or two to acclimate to her surroundings. She is unusually quiet for a collie and only barks when she is playing with the other dogs at her foster home. She does like to counter surf for any tasty treats that might be available, so it is important to keep food out of her reach.
Polly gets along beautifully with the other dogs at her foster home, including a five month old puppy and a senior dog. It would be good if her forever home included a canine buddy, since the companionship of another dog seems to give Polly confidence. She has not met any cats since coming to her foster home, so we don’t know how she would react to them. She loves older children.
Polly is terrified of trucks and will attempt to flee if she encounters one while on a walk. For this reason it is essential that she have a forever home with a fenced yard. Trucks also frighten Polly when she is riding in the car, so for her own comfort it is best if she rides in her crate.
Polly has been through a lot in the last few weeks and she is looking for a patient family who will help her regain her confidence and sense of security. She is a very loving girl who just needs a little time to warm up to her new environment. She loves other dogs and older children and would greatly benefit from obedience training that would build her self confidence and help her bond with her new family. In exchange for just a little patience, Polly’s new family will gain a loyal, loving, happy, little collie girl. |
