Davey's arthritis and dysplasia now limit his mobility, causing him to stumble a bit when he walks. He now rests on a "cooling" mat and takes glucosamine liquid to help alleviate some of the symptoms. Despite the toll that age and his ailments have taken, Davey remains a sweet, funny boy who seems happiest when he is the only dog. He craves a home and people of his own with whom he can spend the rest of his days.

Life has been a little bit hard on Davey, and now, at over thirteen years old, he is looking for a loving home to make his golden years truly golden. Davey is a somewhat shy, older gentleman who likes to go for short walks and enjoys just lounging around his foster home, basking in the love and attention.
Davey is a very sweet boy who is good with other animals and with children. He is gentle, sensitive and extremely well behaved in the house. He does not need to be crated, is fully housetrained and can be left alone without being destructive. He particularly likes to nap on the sun porch at his foster home and dream of the days when he was a young pup who could run and play and chase balls. He enjoys being combed and when he was bathed at the groomers, it was thought that he had probably never had a bath his entire life since his skin was in poor condition.
Davey has hip dysplasia and severe arthritis that make it hard for him to get around much. He can’t climb stairs and though he likes to go for car rides, he needs help getting in and out of the car. He has little or no hearing and his eyesight is failing. He also has several teeth that will need to be removed as soon as his blood workup is complete.
Davey is a tired old dog. He won’t be able to play Frisbee or jog with you. His walks will need to be short and leisurely. But Davey is a gentle, loving spirit who can still enjoy the warm sun on his fur and a loving pat on the head. He can still savor his dinner, enjoy his tasty treats and gratefully lick the hand that provides them. He needs and deserves a forever home where he can enjoy love and security, perhaps for the first time in his life.
