It's a whole new world for this handsome, six year old, neutered, collie
boy. When Lance was surrendered to the Sioux Falls Humane Society,
he was primarily an outdoor dog. Since then, he has experienced
shelter life (didn't like it) and foster care (learning to love it).
Now that he's an indoor dog, Lance is encountering all sorts of new
experiences. Initially, he was subdued, watching and learning from
his foster sisters how to deal with such strange items as stairs,
mirrors and vacuum cleaners. But with a little time, Lance has
decided that this indoor stuff is pretty great, and his cheerful,
affectionate personality has begun to blossom.
Lance shows his enthusiasm for the indoor life by being the perfect
house guest. He is house trained, not destructive and can be left
alone without being crated. He is a quiet, calm guy with a
wonderful disposition, who loves being hugged and giving collie kisses.
He is good with children and other dogs (although he would do best with
other dogs who are not dominant). He has not yet been exposed to
cats, so they are an unknown quantity. His health is good (though
he is due for a teeth cleaning), and his coat is a beautiful, mahogany
sable.
Though he has learned to live indoors, Lance has not forgotten his
outdoor manners. He is very well behaved off leash, stays close
and comes when called. He doesn't know many commands, but you can
tell by his bright, intelligent eyes that he is ready to learn.
About the only thing Lance doesn't like about his new life style is the
food. He is clearly used to getting "people" treats and
is reluctantly making the transition to "doggie" food and
treats.
Even though Lance has been through a lot of changes lately, there is one
more transition that he is anxious to make. He is looking for a
forever home of his very own, and a family who will love him and lavish
him with attention.
Lance is being fostered in East Gull Lake, Minnesota.
