Shannon - Adopted 7/3/03
Shannon is a 5 year old
spayed sable and white girlie of pretty average stature for a female Collie, but
slightly overweight. She wasn't not taken care of very well, so with some
excerise and a good diet, she should easily lose the extra weight. She was an
owner surrender, but lived in filth in a small outdoor pen and came to us
terribly matted and covered in feces. A very kind and generous groomer has
helped make Shannon all pretty, but it was necessary to have patches shaved off
from her (especially on her backside and underside) where the matts were too
thick to brush out. The matting was even preventing poor Shannon from being
able to go potty properly!
Shannon is getting used to being an indoor dog and LOVING it! So far, no
accidents in the house and she graduated from being crated to having the run of
her foster home. Shannon is very sweet and mellow. She loves to sleep on the
couch. She is also great with grade-school aged children, loves being with
them, but never jumps on them. Shannon is very obedient and very affectionate.
She loves to give big Collie smoochies and puts her paws up in her foster mom's
lap to give even more kisses! Since she has been cleaned up and groomed she is
a beautiful girl.
She knows "sit" and "come" and walks nicely on a leash. Her previous owners did
not do much in the way of training with her. Since she is being fostered in a
home without cats, we don't know how she is with them. She is not much of a
barker unless there is something to bark at, but stops when she is told to
stop. She is CRAZY for treats, but is on a rather strict diet to get down to
her "bikini weight".
Shannon is being fostered in Mora, MN.
