Description: This may be your one and only chance to adopt a rare, never-before-seen-in-rescue, needle-nosed lion!

Okay, Willie isn't actually a lion, but when he is prowling the savannah (aka back yard) sporting his cool summer “lion cut,” he certainly looks like one. In spirit, however, Willie is more of a pussycat. He loves everyone and everything he meets, from adults to children to cats to other dogs. His primary goal in life is to be near his humans and soak up the love. He is a happy healthy boy who enjoys playing fetch and chewing on his Kong. When he is playing and chasing in his back yard, he does show some “herding” behaviors such as lunging and heel nipping, so he would probably do better with older children who wouldn't be frightened by this typical collie behavior.

Willie learns quickly and listens extremely well. He knows “sit” and “shake” and likes to go for walks with his canine foster brother and experience all of life's interesting sights and smells. He is fully house trained and well mannered, though he will counter surf if given the opportunity and sometimes will bark to get attention. When he does this, a stern look followed by “shhhh” is all that it takes to quiet him. Although he walks quite well on his leash, he is a strong boy who is sometimes distracted by seeing another dog and it takes a firm hand to restrain him.

Willie would love a forever home that included another fun-loving dog or older children who would play with him. Of course he would still expect to get the “lion's” share of the attention. He definitely needs a fenced yard, since he likes to go exploring and is always ready to set out to “see the world.”

So if you are ready for a happy, loving companion who – in spite of his “king of the beasts” haircut - is really as gentle as a kitten, Willie is the perfect collie for you.
