Description: Gabby is the essence of what it means to be a collie: sweet, calm, gentle and loving. Unless, of course, you are a rabbit or a squirrel. Then, she is the thing nightmares are made of. When Gabby patrols her yard, she always looks up, hoping to see one of the pesky, bushy-tailed rodents and daring it to come within reach. She is equally focused on bunnies and she is quick enough to catch one if any should be foolish enough to enter her yard!

Once indoors, however, Gabby reverts to a calm, easy going girl who wants nothing more than to put her feet in her foster mom’s lap, snuggle and give hugs. Before she came to MWCR, she spent most of her time outdoors, only coming inside to sleep on winter nights or during rainy weather. She has adjusted quickly to the indoor lifestyle, however, and now prefers to spend her time inside with her people. She is a well behaved girl who is fully housetrained and non destructive. She is fascinated by the unfamiliar sounds that she hears coming from the television and by the call of the loons on the lake. She cocks her head and you can almost hear her thinking “what is that and where is it coming from?”

Gabby has lived happily with other dogs, but should not be in a home that includes cats. Kitties are just a little too similar to squirrels and bunnies. There are no children in her foster home, but she is such a loving and gentle girl that we are confident she would do well with children of almost any age.

Throughout most of her life, Gabby was confined to a large fenced yard, and thus she is unfamiliar with leashes and collars. Her foster mom is working with her, however, and she is making progress but will need more work before she is comfortable on a lead.

Gabby is a beautiful, loving, collie girl who will fit seamlessly into almost any family. She is gentle and devoted to her people and is an easy going companion to other dogs. Just be sure to warn the neighborhood squirrels and bunnies, because when she is on yard patrol, Gabby is a whole other doggie!
