Sammie, AKA Sam-o-rama

11-month-old color-headed white male  Must have a Fenced Yard

New to Rescue!

Introducing the glamorous Sammie! This smart, strappingly handsome, sable-headed, collie boy stops traffic with his glistening white coat. Sammie is neutered, up to date on all his vaccinations, and weighs in at about 60 pounds (though he could afford to put on an additional 10 to 15 more). Sammie is just under a year old, and though he is currently on a prescription diet to correct some skin and digestive troubles, he is a playful, high energy guy.

Sammie is still a boisterous, energetic puppy who loves to run, wrestle and play keep away with his five year old, foster collie brother. His foster home also includes two kitties, and though Sammie is curious about them, he is a little timid and tends to whimper when they are around. The cats love that! In addition to his playfulness, Sammie also has a loving, cuddly side and wants to be near his people all the time – even “helping” his foster mom when she is on the computer. But though he likes adults, other dogs, and cats (sort of), Sammie LOVES children and is hoping for a forever home where he will have children to play with.

In spite of his loving nature, Sammie is a little skittish around new people and in unfamiliar situations. His foster mom has started taking him to obedience training to help him gain confidence and become more comfortable with new experiences. Sammie is enjoying his education and already knows “sit” “stop” and “give paw” and is working hard on “down” and “come.” Because he is uncomfortable in strange surroundings, Sammie does not like going for walks and will pull to go home or refuse to walk at all. However, indoors at his obedience class he walks well on a leash and his foster mom believes that when he becomes more confident, he will also walk well outdoors. He loves to ride in the car and really enjoys working off some of that puppy energy with a good chew toy.

Sammie is well on his way to developing the self confidence that such a handsome, intelligent collie should have. Now he needs a forever family who will continue his obedience training and provide the attention and affection that will allow him to really blossom. In return, Sammie will reward them with the pure love and devotion that can be seen shining deep within his gentle, brown eyes.

Sammie is being fostered in Duluth, MN.
