Montana

5-year-old blue merle female  Not good with Small Children

New to Rescue!

Montana is as beautiful as the “big sky” state for which she is named. She is a five year old, rough coated, spayed, collie girl with fabulous, blue merle coloring in crisp shades of blue/gray, white, tan and black. Montana even comes with her AKC papers, a very rare occurrence with a rescue dog.

But Montana is more than just a pretty face; she is also the perfect, collie companion. She is quiet (for a collie), fully housebroken, knows the basic commands, comes readily when called, walks well on a leash and is very well mannered both indoors and out. She loves to go for car rides, and it is easy for her foster family to take her along on outings, since she loves meeting new people and is so well behaved and calm.

Montana tolerates other dogs, but much prefers the company of humans, so she would be fine as an “only” dog. Cats are an unknown quantity, since her foster family doesn’t have any. She is highly food possessive and at her foster home she needs to be fed separate from the other dogs. Although she has shown no evidence of food aggression with the humans in her foster family, it would be best if Montana’s forever home did not include any young children, since it is possible that she might nip if a child tried to take away her food dish.

Montana is looking for a forever home where she can be the center of her family’s loving attention. She would do well in a city or suburban setting and would be perfectly happy with only a small yard. Her ideal family would be one that likes to go places with their dog, since Montana loves to go on outings and is so well mannered that she will always make them proud. She is a gentle, affectionate girl, who loves to snuggle and will repay her family’s love with a wealth of collie kisses.

Montana is being fostered in Minnetrista, MN (near Minneapolis).
