Update for Daisy!

In spite of the heart worm, Daisy continues to be her lovable, easy going self.  She is extremely well mannered, housebroken, walks well on a leash and loves car rides.  Although she craves attention, she never jumps up on people; instead, she politely sits or rolls over to await petting and tummy rubs.  She never barks or whines when left alone and does not need to be crated.

Daisy would do best with children 8-10 and older.  Her gentle manner is very good with older folks.  Unfortunately, Daisy is not fond of felines and though she doesn't stalk or chase them, she would probably do best in a "cat free" environment.  She will also need a home where she is either the only dog or lives with dogs that are submissive, since Daisy needs to be the Alpha dog.

Daisy's story has a sad beginning, but with time and medical treatment it will have a very happy ending.  Once she is on the road to recovery, she will be ready for a forever home that can lavish her with the love and attention that she needs and deserves.

Intake Bio for Daisy!

Poor Daisy!  She is the poster child for "When bad things happen to good Collies"!  Daisy is an incredibly sweet, five year old who has not only lost her home, but has also been diagnosed as heart worm positive.  According to the vet, Daisy is in the early stages of the disease and is otherwise very healthy, so she is expected to make a full recovery.  She will need two, costly injections and a 48 hour vet stay, followed by 4 to 6 weeks of restricted activity.  She will also need to be re-tested in one month and again in four months.

Although there are no children at her foster home, Daisy appears to get along well with kids when she encounters them.  Her gentle manner also makes her good with older folks.  Unfortunately, Daisy is not fond of felines and though she doesn't stalk or chase them, she would probably do best in a "cat free" environment.  She will also need a home where she is either the only dog or lives with dogs that are submissive, since Daisy needs to be the Alpha dog.

Daisy is being fostered in Forest Lake, Minnesota.

So far $975 has been spent on Daisy’s medical treatments.

Daisy has completed her treatment for heartworm and is healthy and ready for a new home! Donations to help defray the cost of her treatment are still welcome!
